Since 2017, the MCC Weather network of weather stations has grown to include 4 stations in the City of Vancouver BC and 4 more in the BC South Coast region of Canada. In May 2022 the organization completed the installation of a station in Edmonton AB Canada, the first outside of BC. It has now been joined by a station in Calgary AB. Data is collected using personal weather stations. In addition to nearby 3rd party camera's, some stations use our own HD cams to broadcast views of the sky above.
The collected weather data is sent to the US National Weather Service CWOP program, and shared worldwide. CWOP is the Citizen Weather Observer Program. With ten's of thousands of members worldwide, this organization is responsible for millions of weather observations annually. The accumulated data is used in public forecasts, research, and industries worldwide. Data is evaluated for accuracy, verification, and calibration of MCC Weather stations. MCC Weather further contributes by alerting Environment Canada and the public of notable weather via #BCStorm and #ABStorm on the X platform.
MCC Weather is a proud member of CoCoRaHS, a citizen science program of the US National Weather Service and Environment Canada. CoCoRaHs collects and shares daily measurements of precipitation using manually read standardized rain gauges.
MCC Weather is co-developer of proprietary systems used in the automation of agricultural, commercial, industrial, and residential processes. These systems collect live weather data for automation systems, making them more responsive than previously possible.
